  • Cross Country Trip Possible or Not?

Trying to find out if you can drive a CNG car with about 250 mile range across the USA. Starting in Atlanta, GA going to Los Angeles. I've looked at every sort of map I can easily find and it looks like there's a couple of gaps. Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona look pretty bleak. Any ideas? Or should I just have the car shipped.

    Thanks,

    Patrick

If your vehicle is dedicated CNG I would not try it. Besides gaps you never know if the CNG pump is working or not. Here is Utah there is much down time
on CNG equipment. I call ahead and that works well but across country. I don't think so

Not possible in a dedicated CNG vehicle unless it has a 500+ mile range.

        Patrick,

I agree with Beano. The DOE trys to keep their CNG locator maps up-to-date (http://www.afdc.energy.gov/afdc/fuel...locations.html), but I wouldn't trust them. Like he says, call ahead.

If you decide to go, I'd take the southern route. I would think, according to the map, that TX, AZ and NM should have stations. Question is how far apart.

Good luck and keep us posted!
