  • Adding a tank

Does anyone know if it's feasible to add an additional tank yourself? I'm not aware of a shop in my area that can do this. I'm in WV.

Yes it is feasible. I have done this on several vehicles. I dose require some special equipment and fittings.

I would like to install an additional tank myself as well. If you would be willing to post any information you might have on this, it would be very helpful. Thanks for any help.

I'm going to move this thread away from GM and over to the Main forum where other's can chime in.

You might also check out the list of CNG service shops here:

                Re: Adding a tank

I have never installed a tank in a Honda. The Hondas I am familiar with are the first generation Gx's. These vehicles have a very limited amount of room to install a tank Though Murph dose have some good picts on his site of installations. Each manufacture uses different fittings to connect the tanks into the fuel system I like to use Swagelock fittings and .25" stainless steel tubing to connect the bottles. yo also want to use a backing plate and grade 8 .5" bolts to secure the bottles into the vehicle I will usually try to mount them a location that I can bolt through 2 planes (the bottom of the trunk and back wall of the well). I put a 360 loop in the stainless steel tubing for vibration. This next week I will try to work up a list of the tank manufactures and there web sites.

                  Re: Adding a tank

Thanks for the info and on xmas day I think you are talking about murphy at cng motors in phoenix. I have talked to him last tuesday and he gave me a quote and it is a fair one. The only problem is the distance. I was hoping to find somebody closer. If you know anybody in Calif. that can do that task please let me know.
                  Thanks again

                    cngmike,
Thanks for the info. If there is any way you could post some close-up pictures of an installation you are describing, that would help me visualize it.

CNG Mike, any chance you can post the list of tank manufactures and their web sites? What do you consider the best conversion kit?

                        Re: Adding a tank

I have very little experience with conversion kits. The last one I delt with was in 1991 I am sure the have come a long way. I will work up a list of tank Manufacture web site with links. I have contacts at SCI and Dynetek I will check with them to see what info I can post here like tank sizes or contact info.

On this page this site is listed as a link
