  • How Many Converts Do You Have?

How many people have you exposed and "converted" to the use of NGV's?

So far I have three converts:

    Brother- Ford Crown Vic
    Brother-in-Law- Ford Contour
    Former Coworker- Honda Civic

    Spread the word.

Sorry for the confusion. I should not have used the term converted. I was referring to the number of people you have been able to get to switch from gaoline powered vehicles to natural gas vehicles.

Re: How Many Converts Do You Have?

It isnt from lack of trying....

One of the biggest problems I see is dealers/sellers marking up the price and telling people they are going to get money back from the Government. For example, the dealer I was using raised my price $600+ Dollars by the time I signed the papers. He kept telling me how I would be getting $3k back and save money on my taxes. First off, that is none of the dealers business, second of all, because or AMT, I wont get a dime back of the $4k.

When I called someone selling a truck in the Bay Area, he told me he was getting lots of calls from Utah and said his price was high since he 'knew about the Tax Deduction' there.

While those in UT might pay $0.63/GGE, dealers are just going to go and raise the price up and up where the payback will take longer.

I will continue to tell people about the joys of not using OPEC oil in one of
        my cars .

The cng is'nt for everybody, I am lucky to have so many stations in the Salt Lake valley, but that's not the case for everybody, some people won't enjoy filling up every few days either, espically if you use the Sandy, UT station. Everybody I've told my story to is intrested but, it takes money to save money, and they simply have no money, and with gas prices the way they are they may never have any. Most of my friends are strapped, in debt up to there eye balls, and thats just the way it is. Lucky for me and my family this little truck of ours will pay for it's self in a year.

I have had my 08 GX for just over 3 weeks (thanks Curtis!) and since then my father as bought a Utah state owned Bi-Fuel Chevy Cavilier and my brother-in-law just drove home is Chevy extended cab Bi-Fuel from Phoenix last Sunday.
I have 3400 miles on my car already and the $.64 cents per GGE puts a smile on my face everytime I fill up!

Re: How Many Converts Do You Have?

Last night the School buses were filling at my local (Hemet) station, their new slow fill facility, enough for 18 vehicles to do an overnight fill had a broken gas line. One of the drivers thought I worked for the RTA (Which has gasoline powered Focuses and Tauruses) and after I told him my story, he said he was going to look into a NGV. He had no clue about NGVs like me until I read a tech article about the GX.
It would be nice if California could do what Utah has done and get us some ultra-low priced fuel!
