  • Here's Another Mobile Device(Cell Phone) Web Site To Find Fuel

I usually peruse the Government web site fueleconomy.gov (http://www.fueleconomy.gov) and add up my mpg. But here's something new. It's a link to another mobile device web page to find alternative fueling stations. It's in the upper right corner of their home page under the heading "Mobile Web Sites." Or key this into your mobile device: http://www.afdc.energy.gov/afdc/locator/m/station/

At first glance it doesn't have any audience participation features where one can update prices like Todd's web site http://www.cngprices.com

Yes, but this is a lousy site. It says "Caution: The AFDC recommends that users verify that stations are open, available to the public, and have the fuel prior to making a trip to that location." If you've ever tried to do that, you know how futile it is. Go Todd!

This is the new mobile version of the EERE website, brought to you by DOE. I got the preview of it at the regional Clean Cities Conference in Big Sky, MT last Sept. They liked the look and feel of what Todd had done and wanted to pretty much reproduce it.

They will not make it interactive because public input is too unreliable and they can't control it. So station status and fuel prices are never going to happen on their site. Additionally, they show public/private stations without seperating them for a private search like we would do.

Yep, I agree USELESS compared to cngprices.com which is the gold standard.

A year ago I got email back from webmaster when I noticed that private cng site for Yucca, AZ disappeared. I found out from webmaster that it was Ford Motor proving ground and was to be sold. Anyone know what ever happened with Yucca, AZ??

As for EERE site, a simple filter so that private could be filtered from public would be OOOOOHHHH so simple. But not for government work . . . . ARRGGHH!
