  • Vanity Plates to Promote CNG

It is time to go to the DMV and pay pay pay to register my GX. I want to get a vanity license plate to promote CNG. So I thought it would be good to put some suggestions up for others and hopefully get a few ideas from the group.

Here are a few I'm considering. (Oklahoma allows up to 7 characters, spaces or numbers):

    NO OPEC
    MY CNG
    CNGPWRD
    CH4 PWR
    METHANE
    GO CNG
    CNGAUTO
    CNG CAR

    How about more suggestions??

After I got my Civic GX I came up with: ON FUMES, (already taken,) ON VAPOR, or OTTA GAS.

But, I did run a poll at work to see what others could come up with. These are some of my co-workers' suggestions and comments:

CH4FUEL, CH4PWR, NATGAS, METHANE, GASBAG <-- good for the mother-in-law, BLUFLAM, PILOTLT, CNGCAR, CNGAUTO, CNG4ME <-- I like this one, CNGHOV, WHTAGAS, STOVGAS, CHFOUR, CHFORE, CNGHNDA,and since it's burning fossil fuel, how about: PASTGAS (that one might not make it past the State Plate censors, nor perhaps would you want to be driving around advertising that...)

        I got ON VAPOR.

Try looking online to see if they have database of plates. In California you can order them online and they will tell you if it is available or not. METHANE was taken so mine reads METHA9E.

My buddy always refers to his GX as his CAR-B-Q.

                  "CAR-B-Q", huh ?

Perhaps Honda, or soon Toyota, could add the Barbeque option to their respective NGVs ?

If these 2 Auto manufacturers added a method of connecting a Barbeque to the vehicles' on-board Natural Gas fuel supply, they would create one awesome vehicle for tailgate parties.

                  Go Raiders,

In Utah you can do an online search for personalized plates to see if your plate number is available:

For you bi fuelers, I prefer: I AM BI

Re: Vanity Plates to Promote CNG

Thanks to everyone who put up their suggestions. There were some great ideas. My friend came up with FARTPWR but I expect that would be censored at the DMV (or DPS as it is in OK). OK is a little behind on web access at the DPS. I couldn't find a site to see if a particular tag was taken so I have to submit six choices in order of preference. Here is what I picked.

                          CNG 4ME
                          CH4 PWR
                          WHTAGAS
                          ONFUMES
                          NO OPEC
                          METHANE

I also considered just getting a custom license plate frame. There is a guy on ebay motors that sells them very reasonable and you don't have to spend $20 a year to renew it.

I just went on the California DMV website and ordered up "IMGAASY" for our new 2009 Honda Civic GX. Quite a few of the fun vanity plate ideas were taken, but my husband thought this one was pretty funny.

Update: The wheels of Oklahoma gov't turn very slowly. On March 31, 2009, I finally received my vanity plate "CH4 PWR". Not my first choice. But over 4 months? That is ridiculous.
