  • GPS Recommendations-What to Buy.

I am about to buy a new PS navigation, anyone having recommendation or a list which system can and cannot import POI lists?
I did try one, which did not allow any mods of the POI, I only could manually enter any address as a 'favorite'. This was a Delphi Nav200, and Nav300.
The unit also should have a bluetooth interface for my phone - just for handsfree.

    Thanks

    GPS Recommendations-What to Buy.

My 2004 GX came with a very nice GPS system, courtesy of the previous owner. It's a Kenwood KVT 715DVD. Has expandable capability and can do just about anything... except what I want it to.

After becoming used to the intuitive nature and flexibility of the Honda factory nav, I can barely get this unit to find a place unless I know exactly where the address is. I've become accustomed to the way it works over the year or so I've had it, but would love to replace it with something voice command, flush in-dash mount (this has a pop out/flip up screen that blocks the A/C vents) and most of all... has intuitive functions.

If I want to search for fast food off of my current route I don't want to have to pull over and figure out how to make the unit do that... if it even can.

I can manually add cng stations by address (which isn't the best way) as a POI, but not get them to come up on the screen (very important to me). How does it update maps, download POI info for stations, etc. Which are the best/worst units out there. We don't care if they play DVD's... it's a useless function. Which units do what you need them to do and maybe even have a cool factor about them?

Use this thread to give us your recommendations on which units work best, are the most intuitive and flexible, problem free, etc. I wouldn't own a GX, or any cng vehicle, without one. For traveling... it's a must.

Sounds like you want a dash-mount iPhone!

Found this nice site to handle all POI, create your own list (private list) or get one of the available ones. theavailble CNG list has only a few stations.
egistration is required and it is free.
POIHandler.com - Do you need speed camaras? We have the best available speed cameras for your Navigation System. Get it now and go to poihandler.com

note: once you imported or created your own list you can then export it to your type of navigation system Once selected you'll see more notes to that regards and that some systems do require yet another tool to convert (POI-Warner)

I have a cheap one, a Nextar, cost about 100$ back in March. I spilled a drink on it and it ruined the touchscreen. I found it very easy to use and figure out, a lot easier than a friends Tom Tom. It boots up but I cant get it to work. A friend has a Garmin for his motorcycle and it is weatherpoof, but cost a LOT more. I may just buy another cheap one:

Actually it was sitting on my nighstand and it wasn't much liquid, but the screen just soaked it up like a sponge.
