  • Is there any inerest in using a CNG station in Idaho Falls

I just got a email from clean cities, Yellowstone coalition.

The company that owns "Salt Lake Express" bus has purchased the old CNG station. I had Sandy Shuptrine contact Jacob Price the owner. She said that they might be interested in keeping the CNG station if there were enough interest. So now is the time to express your interest in opening a station in Idaho Falls.

I would also like to promote the idea of a station in Jackson hole.

How is the best way to use this site to let them know the interest in such a station?

I'd go to Yellowstone once a month. Sign me up. If you build it they will come.

I have written Intermountain Gas and Boise Clean Cities and expressed my interest in the past.

We will be making a trip to Yellowstone in a couple weeks and would fill up there if it's available.

Politically it would be a great thing as the Yellowstone area folks are very much seeking to keep that air clean. It would be nice to see the three states affected come together and share the cost, but I doubt that will happen.

It would be great to see a bunch of CNG snowmobilies in the winter as that is when the air quality really is worse.

most snowmobiles are two stroke engines. The more weight you put on the more you will need to lift out of the snow when you get stuck.

I just passed through there twice yesterday in my gasoline car, wishing I was driving my GX instead.

Re: Is there any inerest in using a CNG station in Idaho Falls

I just noticed this post and I'm glad I did. I have a lot of interest in a CNG station there in Idaho Falls. I have owned a CNG car for 2.5 years now and make frequent trips to the Idaho Falls area with my bi-fuel. I have contacted the people at the INL several times about getting access to the old Shell station there at I-15 and highway 20. That pump appears to be actively used.

The story I get everytime I talk to them is that they would be more than happy to open that station to the public but they insist that the government cannot and will not sell to the public. They insist that as soon as somebody buys and reopens the gas station there that they can continue to offer that service to the public. Well, its been 2.5 years and nobody has purchased it and its not looking good either.

My friends and family in the Idaho Falls area love the idea of the CNG car and the only thing keeping them from getting one is the lack of a station there. I think they as well as I would use a station there quite a bit. It would be a very valuable asset to the people in that area as well as all the people from Utah going to and from Yellowstone each year. So please do what you can to see that we get a station opened back up in that area.

Michael Bates for NGTNews July 21, 2021 - Grand Teton National Park Welcomes first CNG Refuse Truck

In May 2019, the national park received the grant to purchase the vehicle. The park worked closely with Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities to develop the proposal. The refuse truck is the first vehicle in Grand Teton’s fleet to use CNG.

Earlier this summer, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was hosted by Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities Jackson and Energy Conservations Works at a local CNG station at Lower Valley Energy in Jackson. The truck will be filled while on regular runs to the Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling Center, south of Jackson.
