So I have been shopping tanks like many of us newbies and come across some older tanks from vehicles running the 2400 and 3000 PSI systems. In comparison to 3600 PSI, what is the difference one can expect in range(miles)between the different pressures for an equal sized tank?

Re: Range/Pressure variances
Actualy mike, the pressure in a fixed volume of gas at a steady temperature is directly proportional to the mass (i.e. range). The reason you don't usually see that full 20% extra range going to 3600 from 3000, is a fill from near empty to 3600# will add a lot more heat to the cylinder, than going to just 3000#, therefore adding more 'artificial pressure'. On a slow fill system, which allows temperatures to stabalize, you will see that full 20% extra range on a 3600# fill over a 3000# fill.1997 Factory Crown Victoria w/ extended tanks ~~ Clunkerized!
