Cost of NEW CNG Tanks....

So whats the scoop? Can someone give my some insight? I am going to get my wife's tahoe converted and can't get a straight answer. I am NOT going to get rid of the third row seating, but mount the tanks underneath where the spare tire is. I am wanting a double tank small enough to fit, but can't seem to get an answer on cost of tanks. The initial cost I was quoted was plus tanks, but can't get an estimate for those.

So does anyone know, or should I start looking for used tanks? Thanks

Search "CNG" on EBay, there's a dual tank setup on there right now. Craigslist is the other likely prospect. Prices will vary, watch tank expiration dates as they're not usable after the date listed on the side of the tank, usually 15 years from in service date, but some may be 20 yrs.

I was just quoted $2250.00 plus $180.00 for valve and PRD plus $82.00 for brackets. for a 6.6 GGE (15" x 39") cylinder.

The 3 tank mfg. I know of are Lincoln Composites , Luxfur , and Structural Composites Inc. , Not sure if SCI still is in the tank business. On a conversion costing $12,000 , OVER 50% OF THE COST IS TANKS.

If the proposed conversion shop is un - familiar with tank prices, maybe this is not someone you want installing a system on your vehicle.

Thanks for the responses! The Company I am going to have do the conversion is trustworthy, they just wanted me to bring my car in to discuss tank options. However I already know what and I search ebay just about everyday as well as many others to I'm sure.

Anyways to make a long story short I am wanting to buy a dual tank setup to install where the spare tire goes, and I saw one on Ebay that seemed like a good deal, just wanting some firm numbers

I didn't know they ever showed that they had anything approved, tested or certified in the USA ??

The tanks that are sold from ********.com are exactly the same dimensions and gge as lincoln composite (in fact they used to list Lincoln composite on their web site as a place to purchase tanks). If you check the price it looks like they just add $300.00 to $400.00 per tank and have them drop shipped.
I have purchased tanks from Canada, but they dont have a lot of different sizes & I have to buy at least 12 at a time. Their prices are about half of anywhere else. I sell NEW 13.5 gge tanks for $1000.00 (when I have them) which is less than half of comparable size Lincoln tanks.
Check the prices for additional tanks from the cng car dealer in Arizona -- they are very reasonable (gives you a better idea of the actual cost) but they will only sell to customers.

Who is the person that is building tanks in Utah I think Brigham city is it smartineau. Just curious how is it comming with the progress, and what sizes are you looking at doing.

SCI is doing well I just purcahsed DOT cylinders from them. I contacted the Harsco the company that had made my 3AA DOT cylinders they referd me to SCI, whom I had already contacted.

It is me. We are scheduled to begin fabrication on our qualification lot of cylinders next week. They will be 13 GGE tanks. The price should be determined in the next few days.
