    Does anyone know the conversion from GJ to GLE? We are paying about $4/GJ at the shop.

      Gigajoule (how gas is sold in Canada). GLE is Gasoline Litre Equivilent

        I'll take a stab at this:

        115,000 BTU in a GGE - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline-equivalent_gallon

        1 gallon = 3.8 liters

        115,000 BTUs / 3.8 liters = 30,263 BTUs / liter

        1 BTU is about 1,060 Joules - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Thermal_Unit

        30,263 BTUs * 1,060 Joules / BTU = 32,078,780 Joules or 32 GJ per liter.

          I think that would be megajoules. We pay about $8/GJ for gas. I was told it should be about $0.30 per GLE.
