Scuba tanks for CNG conversion

I am looking to convert my vehicle but cannot afford the $3,000 CNG tank.

Can I just use a Scuba tank to hold the CNG?

They are rated at higher PSI's than most CNG tanks.

Is this possible? If it is, what do I need to be aware of?

If it is not possible, how come?

Any information would be greatly appreciated! I am looking forward to joining the CNG vehicle community.

On top of that, they would not hold much fuel, you would need a lot of them.

I was just quoted $600 for a 5.5 GGE 3600 psi used cylinder with brackets and insulators.

I think the response is loud and clear on the OP's question.

Despite my growing reputation for perhaps erring on the side of being too heavy-handed when it comes to our zero-tolerance the promotion of uncertified & illegal activity, when it comes right down to it I really do appreciate everyone here jumping in to educate others and in furthering this industry's so-far steller safety record. This thread is a shining example of our community at its best.
