Chev Impala 2008 CNG

It is probably old news, but I was so excited to see this information that I had to share.

GM has the 2008 Chev Impala coming in the CNG flavor. I have rented several Chev Impalas and I think they are a very good car, even in gasoline. Now, with the CNG option, I hope to have one someday.

i wonder if gm will limit distribution to certain aeas or make cng vehicle avail widely....any rumors?

It is at the EPA-approved lab as I write this and we should have the test results by the end of next week. Assuming all goes well, EPA certification should be by month-end. Those of you coming to the AFVi show in Vegas next week can come by booth 123 to check it out We will have some opportunity for folks to drive it as well (have an EPA exemption for a couple of vehicles for now).

Hey John great progress-
I'm going to try and go myself.
Am I to understand these will be sold to people like me?
Can options be had like the available adjustable pedals? (my main reason for wanting the Malibu)

If you are coming to the AFVi show in Vegas this week, Wednesday from 9am to noon the expo hall is open to the public. It is at the Rio Hotel (Flamingo, West of the Strip).

Also, yes the Impala will be available to the general public once certified (models LS, LT, LTZ but not the SS as it is a different EPA engine family).

Dedicated. It will qualify for the $4k federal tax credit.

It looks like it will have decent range (300 mi) and if it qualifies for the CA carpool lanes I would be very interested! Love my CV, but better range with a nice midsize car and a decent trunk would be great.

I do like the Malibu a lot though. Newer design and better platform (Opel) but the Impala is a bigger car. The pdf wouldn't open for me. Any idea on pricing?

Interested in pricing as well. Will the car be turn-key from you or do we have to buy it from the dealer and then bring it to you? Will you be able to do the same kit on the 3.9 V6?

Is the Impala the first one that's going to be out, because I saw a Saturn Aura and a Pontiac G6. Personally, I think the Saturn Aura looks the best out of the three. I don't like the rear end on the malibu.

Will this be offered at the dealership? Or do I have to buy the Car first and then get it converted at a shop? Just wondering because I get a sick employee discount from Fed Ex for GM cars.

Theres an alt fuels show in June I think. We should know what happens after the show.

Does anyone have any updates as to certification and availablity? Also there was talk of the Saturn earlier on: any updates on that? Is there an up coming trade show that AFVtech will attending? Thanks

John had the Impala at my expo this weekend. Great crowd pleaser and lots of interest. EPA certification is not far away, CARB by next year. I think the Saturn has been shelved for the moment. John can provide details on what and why when he gets off the road, unless afvtech wants to chime in.
