CA- May convert HOV lanes to toll lanes

Does anyone know if CNG vehicles with the HOV stickers will be affected if current plans to convert some HOV lanes in Southern CA to toll roads go through?

I have heard that if they are converted it would be 3+ people for free all others could pay a toll to use the lanes. How would we be affected and can we lobby to keep our free HOV access?

Right now there are several toll roads in Orange County. None of them lets Carpools in for free that I know of. One has a 3+ lane and a regular lane after you pay the toll. Aren't you glad we have those 75,000 Hybrid drivers (including some celebs) on our side!

The only good thing about the hybrids is the lobbying power that got us extended to 2011. Otherwise we'd all be out already. Maybe they can do it again. But the earliest I've heard for the HOT lanes is late 2010. Since that construction project is as unlikely as any other construction project to finish on schedule, it may be a moot point in 2011 if we get timed out anyway.

The LA Times said that they will allow any single occupant vehicle for a cost.

It's 85,000 hybrids. Don't forget the 10,000 stickers they issued in Jan 08.

Luckily, I have a dog that can sniff out the robots.

I heard about this a couple of years ago in the bay area, but nothing ever happened. Wait and see what happens.
