  • Happy new '08 GX owner

Met Curtis Martin at Palmdale Honda last Saturday to pick up my new GX. Curtis suggested we stop at the warplane display (very close to the dealer) while dropping off my rental car which was kind of cool. Attached is a shot of an F117 as well as two SR71's. The plane on the right is the SR71 prototype, the other on the left is a production model.

Curtis crammed in about 4200 psi prior to my departure, so I had a good 75 miles or so before even dropping below the lower "F" mark.

After spending the weekend in Long Beach and filling up (got an very good fill from the CE station - a first as I used to live there and always got pretty crummy pressure once CE took over) I took off for Utah.

Left for Utah Monday morning early with the following stops:

    Victorville 2 GGE (crappy fill)
Las Vegas 2.96 GGE (ok fill - stopped on Losee rd station)
    St. George 4.06 GGE
    Fillmore 3.76 GGE
    Ogden 4.6 GGE

Total of 780 miles and 17.38 GGE. If I add 2 additional GGE during the Ogden fill to "simulate" the good fill I started with, I still managed over 40 mpg at 77 mph (good tail wind on the 15). Definitely getting better mileage than my '03.

Total cost from Long Beach, CA to Ogden, UT was $18.61.

Thanks for the easy transaction Curtis. From the level of enthusiasm shown by my coworkers towards the car, I'll probably be sending you 3-4 new customers.

    Dan,

Thanks for the great info on your purchase of 2008 Civic GX. Nothing better to see than a happy cng customer getting a new cng ride!!

Keep up the good work Curtis.

Utah cng at $0.64 per gge really helps the average cost per mile . . . your trip averaged less than 2.5 cents per mile!! Incredible!! Just need that same setup spread all over the entire USA!!

We got 08' Civic in December - best vehicle choice we've made - our other vehicle is a 08' F250 Powerstroke - it stays home as much as possible these days UGGH!

Not sure if they have them in stock at the moment, but Ken Garff Honda in Salt Lake City has had the Civic GX as well - no trip to CA required. I've seen them have 8 or so in stock at a time.

Ken Garff usually doesn't have much of an inventory, in fact, I believe they only have a green (not my first choice of color) GX in stock at the moment.

Congrats on your new ride utahngv!
We were battling that same wind going the other direction last week in our GX with the two girls heading to DisneyLand. Didn't keep track of the MPG that direction but on the return the winds were again in our favor and got 39.3 MPG. 688 miles, 17.5 gge's & $23.96 total spent one way.

Ken Garff only has the green one in stock. Ron Brown will not sell it now because he needs it for test drives. He has about 80 on order for the July delivery. As of last Friday evening, he told me had already sold 50 of them. He also said that silver and green are the most popular colors. My wife and I have decided to put money down on one of the 30 that remain to be sold.

Off topic, but... You drove right past me and didn't swing in to say "Hi"???
The 15 goes along the East side of the Antelope Valley. I'm just a short detour away.

Curt, would have loved to drop by but we came in very late on Tuesday, stayed put in Anaheim with Mouse & co. then headed back at 7am yesterday. Timon and his better-half met up with us at Disneyland as they have annual passes and were taking the granddaughter to the park on one of the days we were there. We really should organize a CNGchatter get-together at the cruise-in!

Back on topic, how is your GX inventory? People here in Utah are asking me where to get one now that Garff is waitlisted.
