Met Curtis Martin at Palmdale Honda last Saturday to pick up my new GX. Curtis suggested we stop at the warplane display (very close to the dealer) while dropping off my rental car which was kind of cool. Attached is a shot of an F117 as well as two SR71's. The plane on the right is the SR71 prototype, the other on the left is a production model.
Curtis crammed in about 4200 psi prior to my departure, so I had a good 75 miles or so before even dropping below the lower "F" mark.
After spending the weekend in Long Beach and filling up (got an very good fill from the CE station - a first as I used to live there and always got pretty crummy pressure once CE took over) I took off for Utah.
Left for Utah Monday morning early with the following stops:
Victorville 2 GGE (crappy fill)
Las Vegas 2.96 GGE (ok fill - stopped on Losee rd station)
St. George 4.06 GGE
Fillmore 3.76 GGE
Ogden 4.6 GGE
Total of 780 miles and 17.38 GGE. If I add 2 additional GGE during the Ogden fill to "simulate" the good fill I started with, I still managed over 40 mpg at 77 mph (good tail wind on the 15). Definitely getting better mileage than my '03.
Total cost from Long Beach, CA to Ogden, UT was $18.61.
Thanks for the easy transaction Curtis. From the level of enthusiasm shown by my coworkers towards the car, I'll probably be sending you 3-4 new customers.
