I need to know if it is possible to find enough public staition from Albuquerque NM to Los Angeles in a cng dedicated truck getting approx 225 mile per tankful. My main concern is from Albuquerque to Phoenix. I have looked at the cngprices website and a couple other sites and can't seem to find enough stations on the way. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help finding CNG Stations between Albuquerque and Los Angeles
I even called a couple bus manufacturers on East coast that drive or transport their dedicated cng buses to California. They told me outright, they drive as far as then can, but even large cng tank buses have to be stopped in Arizona (when they nearly run out of cng fuel) and put on trailer beds for diesel tractor trailer trucks to pull them to next fuel stop in California!! ARRRRGGGHHH!!! - - - can you say the ultimate pollution irony there can be!! Even small monopoly gas companies won't help the bus transport companies, as they don't have cng compressors or storage.
I have emailed and written all Congressmen, Senators, Governors, etc. in states like AZ, NV, etc. that monopoly natural gas companies should be REQUIRED to have some sort of public cng refueling site in their territories that they make their money. I have yet to get a single reply from summer 2007 when I sent onslaught of correspondence.
See what you can do to complain to elected officials, etc. and FORCE some legislation to get public cng refueling on ALL major highways every 150 miles or less. Even the Swagelok rep told me public cng refueling sites were more prevalent in Mexico, than they are here in USA!!! For every 2 public cng sites in Mexico, there is only one normal petrol (gasoline/diesel) filling stations. Now that is NOT right that Mexico is better equipped for cng than the USA!!

Re: Help finding CNG Stations between Albuquerque and Los Angeles
225 miles per fill is probably not going to work without maybe one tow outside of Colorado Springs and also Rock Springs, but you might consider the following doable route:
Las Vegas New Mexico to Colorado Springs - 257 miles
Fill in Denver
To Cheyenne 100 miles
To Rock Springs 256 miles
To Evanston 104 miles
To Salt Lake City 81 miles
Then down I-15 to Los Angeles is no problem (Fillmore, Cedar City, St. George, Las Vegas, Barstow). Remember you need the Haycock Petroleum card in Vegas (see the CNGchat Nevada forum for details). Get AAA's extended service to give you up to 100 mile towing (I think that is how it works?). Good luck and let us know how it goes!
