    Naperville Il. to issue RFP for CNG station construction

    Naperville, Il. plans to issue an RFP for construction of a CNGstation. The station will be built on city-owned property adjacent toa vehicle test track on Jefferson Avenue in the west-side Chicagosuburban community at a cost of about $2.1 million. The site isadjacent to a Nicor Gas facility, and the natural gas distributioncompany has expressed interest in using the CNG station to fuel itsfleet. Other potential collaborators include the Naperville ParkDistrict, the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, NapervilleCommunity Unit School District 203, Indian Prairie School District204 and Waste Management Naperville city staff are evaluatingwhich of the vehicles in the city 300-vehicle fleet are suitable forconverting to run on CNG.

                Eight of the Salem Oregon "Cherriots" 41 passenger 2002 CNG transit buses have been auctioned off. All twelve did receive replacement 20 year CNG tanks in 2015, 7 or 8 tanks per bus. Winning bids for each bus have been from $575 to $1425. A driver needs a commercial driver license (CDL), but the buses run fine and they have enough range to make it to WA, or to CA and then points east.

                  And one of the Cherriots buses auctioned last week was bought by a local resident as a result of a bar room bet and is already being resold making for three of the buses being available in the area this month. Again, tanks have already been replaced with newer ones good for over a dozen more years.

                    Auctions on final two (of twelve) Cherriots transit buses (Salem Oregon) end 23 July and 28 July 2020. The 2002 buses - in running condition - each have had 7 or eight tanks replaced with new 20 year tanks just a few years ago:
