Now Audi is getting green with CNG

Just read that Audi is going to release a CNG vehicle in Germany this year.

"To further increase its corporate fuel economy, Audi is working on solutions such as alternative fuels, including an A5 2.0-litre TFSI converted to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). Another version has been converted to run on ethanol blended with petrol. These will be launched in Germany and Scandinavia respectively in 2009. "

If Germany will see it sometime in 2009, this means we will never see it in North America. I don't want to be pessimistic here; but the fact that you can order every Audi model in Europe with a diesel but not here tells me that we won't see an Audi CNG car in North America. Audi is bringing diesels here this year, and like BMW, is focused on clean diesel technology. It will be a long, long time before either company brings a CNG car here.

Still, there are large markets for CNG vehicles but unfortunately North America isn't one of them (yet).
