If anyone is looking to install a navigation system in their GX (to find those elusive CNG stations) there is a good deal going on right now. Pioneer is closing out their AVIC-D3 nav units and have extended a $200 rebate for purchases made between Feb1 st through April 30. The unit listed for $999 but can be purchased for about $750-$800 from Pioneer retailers (be sure to read the fine print and purchase from a retailer that is valid for the offer). This will get you a first class double-din nav system that also will accept modules that allow you to connect XM and/or Sirius satellite radio, HD radio, I-Pod interfaces, backup cameras etc. for less then $600. How to put it in?--simple! Metra electronics (www.metraonline.com) makes a kit that replaces the section of the dash that the radio goes in with a part the accepts several different radios including the double-din Pioneer. For the '06 thu '08 Civics the part is 99-7871 (pre painted silver) or 99-7871-T (pre painted taupe) They also make various wire adapters and harnesses including the antenna power module needed to make the antenna amp work. I picked up all the parts and when I get back from vacation in a Month or so, I am going to install it.

Re: Navigation System in 2006 Civic GX
Haven't done it yet---been driving the car daily and haven't had the time. That being said, I have gone over everything that needs to be done to do the conversion. It's not as easy as some but not impossible. The key to the whole thing is the Metra dash panel replacement part. It's about $65.00 for the part and you should pick one up and then make a decision if you want to tackle it or not. Other then the dash replacement, everything else is straightforward.

Re: Navigation System in 2006 Civic GX
Sorry, I still can't help you on this one. It is on my "to do" list but I have rebuilt 3 Cavaliers this year and haven't got around to it. The last car is about done and it is time to take the cover off the GX and get into the nav and rear speaker installation. It should be a no-brainer (I think I have all of the pieces I need). However, when ever I think something is easy, I usually make it complex!

The link in my signature is to pictures which show my in-dash double din Kenwood System with Navigation and a DVD Player. I also replaced my overhead lamp with a Rear monitor for my kids. They love it and we drive my car as much as possible instead of the mini-van...

Re: Navigation System in 2006 Civic GX
My wife bought me a portable GPS not long ago. It is good for finding Natural Gas sources here in SoCal. It fits in the tachometer hole and works well. I just wrap a "no-slip" pad (like a taco) around the top. bottom. and back and wedge it in. The power cord, which inserts in the lighter, comes out of the lower right hand side of the unit. It stays put and keeps good a track of the satellites and it is out of the way. If the picture is not atttached, I have also placed an image in the gallery.Attached Files
