  • Fuel Fuel Injector Failure - I found one for less money

    Hello,

Just a note to let you all know that my 01 Civic had a fuel injector fail. It was easy to diagnose and take apart myself. The hard part was calling the dealer and finding out that a fuel injector for this model costs $560 for one! My insurance deducatble is less than that, so one option was to drive it off a cliff and collect insurance money! - - -I didn't do that. . .

I did more looking around and found some for $300 at some places that was at least a week out. I stoped looking when I contacted Autozone. Not only could they get me one that cost $165ish, I could get it the next day. If it was the wrong part, they would take it back, so I had nothing to lose.

It WAS the right part and I had my car running the next day. I had it all back together in about 20 minutes and what looked like a very bad situation, turned out to be less than $200 bucks.

Way to go, btate! I'm all with DIY and going with the less expensive parts. However, I was told, and believe I read it somewhere on this forum, that OEM parts should only be used when replacing engine parts on a GX. Universal ones do not last as long. I'm assuming the one you got from Autozone is a universal part, right? I'm hoping the more experienced members can chime in on this matter. This give me some hope since I purchased a '98 and expect this to be one of my problems in the near future. Now, only if we could get that damn FPR for a less money!

Good luck and keep us posted.

We've been using those Autozone injectors for a couple of years with no problem. Sometimes they'll will order the wrong one for you, but they've always been good at taking it back and getting us the correct CNG injector eventually. I've also found a few sites online that will rebuild injectors for about $40. They seem to have a 50% success rate on the rebuilds, but they don't charge you if they can't do it.

          Try here: http://lindertech.com

This whole thread has good info: http://cngchat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2408

I've been able to get the injectors at the Auto Zone on State St. in Orem. The always have to order them, so any Auto Zone should be able to get them.

I ordered the injector from the North Orem Store on State. I am sure any of them could help you.
