  • 98 GX - Oil in the fuel tank

I have a 98 GX, and I think I have oil in the fuel tank. There was oil in the high pressure filter housing and the filter element itself was split down the side before I changed it. This was mentioned in another thread (http://cngchat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4774) but I didn't want to highjack it.

Can oil in the tank have a detrimental effect on other parts of the fuel system? The car had a bad fuel pressure regulator when I bought it. I replaced it, and I don't want to have to do that again ($1500).

    Thanks,
    Jay

CNG can actually be kind of "dirty", oily. Get a manual, follow the safety precautions related to venting the main tank(s), then take then to be tested and cleaned. Replace the high pressure filter and re-install the tank. Follow ALL instructions, including torque settings found in the manual.
