I bought the extended warranty. If I don't take the car in for warranty repair within the 7 years, the contract cost is refunded to me. It isn't cheap though -- mine was close to $2000. However, I thought it was a no-brainer because if something big does go wrong and needs repair, you'll wish you had it. If nothing goes wrong, then you get your money back (without interest). I don't know if this was a standard deal from Honda or part of some year-end promotion.
The only question left is if it's worth taking in for smaller repairs like broken window switches... since that would cause you to lose the contract refund, you should probably just get those little guys repaired on your own dime.

As I recall on my '07 GX the initial warranty is 3 years/36,000mi. If one were to take it in during that time, I believe you aren't into the extended warranty. Correct?
I checked the price of my contract. It was $1200 (not $2000 that I remembered), 7 yr/80,000 miles, $0 deductible. As far as I can tell, the new contract supercedes the factory contract, so ANY warranty work will negate the refund at the end of 7 years. That's how I see it, but I could be wrong. If I remember, I'll ask next time I'm at the dealership.
My service contract comes with a CCMC -- Cross country Motor Club of California membership. It includes emergency comprehensive towing coverage up to $100 per disablement, and you can exercise this benefit one per 7 consecutive days. It seems to have many of the same benefits as AAA.
I got one for my 2001 GX and it more than paid for itself. I purchased the contract over the internet from an Acura dealer in Connecticut that was selling them at a discount. Next time I went to my local dealer in San Francisco it was in the computer that I had purchased the Honda Care contract.
Given that because of the special nature of the vehicle repairs must be done at a dealer and not a local mechanic of your choice, the service contract makes particular sense with a GX. Also. the pricing seems to be fairly inform on a nationwide basis. So, if you are in a high labor rate market like the Bay Area, you get an extra little advantage.
Most importantly, shop around for the contract. You can buy it from any Honda dealer in the country.
