  • Why is the Civic GX called a GX?

Ever wonder why the Honda GX is called a GX yet there is nothing on the car that says "GX"? We have two NGV stickers and one CNG sticker, but no "GX" badge.

My theory is it was cut to save money by the same guy at Honda who decided to put the cheapest stereo speakers possible in the car.

(You can tell I have a long commute, so I have a lot of time to ponder these things.)

The HONDA CIVIC's up through 2005 had the various badging you refer to:
    EX, LX, DX, GX, etc.
For the new current style as of 2006, the badging was not done. So they all look the same from the rear. Exceptions are the GX with "CNG" and the Hybrid with "Hybrid". [For fire/rescue personnel to readily identify in an emergency].

If you really want a GX label, you could probably order one for a 2005 or older model from the parts department. I'm sure you could fit it on there.

Sorry, my original posting was more of a tongue in cheek question.
