  • Maintenance Required indicator question.

My 99 has a Maintenance required indicator under the speedometer and it's red. What does this mean? I don't know what "needs" maintenance. I changed the oil, the gas filter, complete tuneup.

    Re: Maintenance Required indicator question.

It's the old version of the Maintenance Minder system, just not as sophisticated. If I recall, it lit up every 7,500, or 10,000 miles, to get you to do the regular services, tire rotation, oil, etc. Read the manual's maintenance section and it will tell you how to extenguish it, or reset it when these services are done.

I believe you turn on the key and hold in the button that clears the trip meter for 10 seconds.

Actually the indicator can be reset by inserting your car key in the slot right next to the maintenance indicator....newer ones use the odometer reset button
