Driving in to work yesterday my car was cutting out above 60mph, so I managed to make it driving slow behind semis. I called around and found that the Honda dealer in Cerritos was my only option. I took it in and explained the problem, so they took it out and could not get it to fail. Around 5pm they finally figured out the problem. It seems the car was leaking oil and there is a sensor that will cut the engine off if the pressure is too low at a certain rpm. It turns out either the pan gasket or rear seal is leaking, although I never see any oil in my driveway. They did give me a free rental car and I had to buy gasoline OUCH. I spent all day in their customer lounge and temperature was around 80 degrees. Hopefully I will get my car back tonight.

Re: Car cutting out at high speeds
I'm not really sure, but I would just call your closest dealer and ask. They said they service a lot of GXs there at Norm Reeves Honda, and they were the ones who suggested doing the recall, and apparantly had the blankets in stock. Oh yeah....my car is ready!BLUE 09 GX

Re: Car cutting out at high speeds
Yeah well my car is back in the shop. I picked it up last night and drove it to Tustin, and it cut out briefly once right before I got off the 22 freeway. This morning I got about a mile and the check engine light came on. I called the shop and drove it in, it ran OK, cut out a few times but not as violent as it did on Wednesday. As long as I stayed around 60 it was fine. I have not heard anything yet.BLUE 09 GX

Re: Car cutting out at high speeds
They called me Saturday and now believe it is the cat. They wont have one until Tuesday, and are going to give me some compensation on my bill for all the unnecessary repairs. In the meantime I got a Mazda 3, it's a nice car but no cruise control. I am not happy about having to spend the extra money on gasoline either.BLUE 09 GX

Re: Car cutting out at high speeds
They called this morning, it looks like they probably wont have my car ready today. I sure do miss the HOV lane, it probably added 20 minutes to my drive today. The Mazda 3 is getting fairly good mileage, I filled it today took 9 gallons for about 320 miles.BLUE 09 GX
