I've seen non-certified mechanics that made the certified guys look like retards, but I'd still have a concern about anyone not familiar with cng working on those specific components... mostly safety concerns (their safety). They may not even know you can turn the valve off or that you need to drain line pressure.

The short answer is; no. Why train someone elses employee? The training is infrequent and limited. Each GX dealer must maintain 2 GX/cng certified techs to be able to even maintain their dealer status.

Of course there are techs that have changed employers... Everyone else must get their training through Rio Honda College, as an example. ASE certification is the most common form of training for most mechanics.

    GX Certified Service Centers

It seems like the way to search for GX Certified Service Centers is through Honda's website.

My mechanic is an independent authorized Honda service center (not a dealer). How do we search for independent service centers that are authorized for GX service?

And how would an independent mechanic like mine get certified?

He said he attended some one-day seminar from Honda where they explained the mechanics of the vehicle, but they didn't offer him any sort of certification.

    Thanks!
