  • 2006 and newer fuel filter issue $$$

Most of you already know me from the Yahoo groups, but for those of you who don't, I'm Curtis Martin. I'm the Alt Fuels Mgr at Robertson's Honda In Palmdale, Ca.

I have been marketing and selling the GX Civic since 1998 and am sort of an activist for CNG in general because I believe it's the most immediate alternative to oil that exists.

My point is this, I have been working with Corporate Honda to change either the price (or service) structure for the kinda expensive little fuel filter in the new GX. I just received this email today and could use your help with some customer comments on how they should resolve this issue, or what price structure would be reasonable for this part.

    Customer comments on your blogs:

As before, can you bounce me some more comments (or the same ones) regarding the fuel filter. Gunnar and I had a meeting today with parts and we're making progress but they need some customer comments that they can use to leverage the situation for us.

Thanks in advance for your continued assistance.

You want your opportunity to speak to the head of Honda's alternative fuels division in Torrence, Ca? This is it! I have been fighting this battle (on your behalf) for the last 6 months, and I need some more ammo, so load me up with some real usable insights as to what you, the guys in the trenches think they should do about it.

Keep it clean, direct and to the point... Please. Thanks, and let's get'erdone!

Thanks for your efforts Curtis! I think the basic issue is whether or not Honda views the GX as a viable and legitimate retail product. Service costs (ie fuel

Granted a GX is a unique Civic, but I agree with previous comments that the guideline for B1 pricing should not be that much out of line from a gas civic (the

I have been working with Honda Alt Fuels Division in Torrence, and more recently with Honda National Parts for the past several months to develope a priceing structure that is more in line with what it should be. We are hoping to hear from them in the near future about the outcome of these negotiations. In fact, I need to call parts back next week and forward on some relevent data that I've been collecting... Thanks for reminding me.

Fuel Filter Issue on 2006 and newer GX-Permanent Price Reduction !

As many of you know, I went to Corporate honda about 6 months ago after finding out that the "B", or Low Pressure Filter on the newes generation of the GX was retailing for $360. I was concerned for my customers, and the fututre of the GX if this outrageous pricing structure was allowed to remain.

I worked with the members of the Yahoo groups, Civicgxtalk and Civicgxngv to cordinate a response that would let Honda know how this effevted the people that live with the GX, that made the leap and were leading the way for others to follow.

I worked with Honda Corporate Alternative Fuels Devision and Honda National parts to work out a pricing structure that was in line with what prior year GX owners were paying for the part. Today I got the news...
WE WON! Here was the email I got today.

                Curtis,

                Great afternoon to you!

I wanted to let you know that we just heard that the Parts Division has
permanently reduced the price of Fuel Filter "B" to: $70.00 Suggested Retail. We're very pleased around here that our co-workers in National Parts went to bat for all of us and worked with their management team to secure these final price cuts.

They're going to keep working to shorten the supply route from vendor to
customer but that's somewhere to come. As of January 1, 2008 they are
permanently reducing the cost to dealers and customers to the amount
                listed above.

I'm sure that this will come as a relief to your customers and followers of
                your web site.

                Thanks in for the assistance.

                All the best,

I finally have a resolution to the price issue on the '06 and newer GX low Pressure fuel Filter.

Beginning Jan 1st, 2008 the retail price for this part will be $70.
                              Down from the previous $360.
