  • What Scan tool to buy?

I saw "Equus 3100 Innova Diagnostic Code Reader" OBD2 in Costco for 89 dollars, and wondered if it would be worth getting...
I have an '02 Cavalier (with stalling issues after it's warm, MIL on)
and have just purchased an '04 Cavalier.

I read something about a GM Tech2 scan tool? Where does one get one of those?
What would you more experienced folks recommend?

    It depends on how:

    a) geek you are
    b) wrencher/tuner
    c) you want to spend

I like my scan tool from AutoEnginuity okay, but I would really like to compare it side by side with an NGS.

I have an autoenginuity and I perfer it over the NGS unless you are working on a Ford. I updated an NGS (after Ford moved on) from Hickok for use on CAN and it worked well as a good generic scantool and of course good as Ford specific.

I dedicated scantool has advantages over the computer based scantool. I am thinking of trying the Autoenginuity on the little notebook lap tops, it might be an improvement. The updates are much cheaper with autoenginuity.
The vehicle specific programs from autoenginuity will show a lot data.
