  • My new CNG Escalade!

I picked this up a few weeks ago and just found this forum. It's a 2000 Escalade that was converted when it was new. I guess I was really lucky to get this even though I was looking for a 4x4 truck, this will have to do. It only holds 5gge, so that sucks, but I'm installing another 10gge tank in the next week or so, and 15gge should be much better.

Did you get that on ebay? If it's the one I'm thinking of, I saw the auction that morning and would have bought it if you hadn't already used buy it now.
Let us know how you like it.

Yeah, it was the one on eBay, I knew it wouldn't last long, so I just bought it, then read and learned about it later. The guy selling it said he and another salesman where on the phone with buyers from Utah when I hit the buy it now. I can't complain, it runs on CNG, it's nice and it's 4x4. I really needed a truck, but this will have to work.

            drjeff,

The conversion was done in Arizona back in '00 - '01. During that time the conversion was done under Option 3 of the EPA, so yes it is legal.

                drjeff,

Unfortunately no, the EPA did away with Option 3 in April of 2002.

In a nutshell Option 3 was a way for CNG kit manufacturers to get their product on the market while still in the process of going through EPA certification. However, the majority of the kit manufacturers did not go for certification, they just used marketed their products under Option 3, therefore, the EPA did away with Option 3.
