I just bought a 1999 cavalier. The dealer I bought it from wasn't to knowledgeable. My first question is concerning the switch that when pushed shows you the level of the other tank. Does it do anything else? Second, when my cng tank is less then half full I'm having a problem starting my car on cng is usually starts on gas and I can get it back to cng until I fill it up with cng. Is that normal? Thanks for the help.

Re: Questions about the Cavalier
Jared,
The switch on the dashboard is ONLY to check the fuel level of the other tank. It does NOT switch the engine to run on the other fuel. As far as your second question goes, your car should start on CNG regardless of fuel amount (unless it is below ~400 psi). The usually suspects are the High Pressure Regulator and the Low Pressure Regulator. I'm not sure how you test which is the problem though. There are several members of CNGchat that know how.

Re: Questions about the Cavalier
The GM alt fuel supplement for the cav says when starting on CNG to hold the key in the start position up to 6 seconds or until it starts. If no start, repeat the process. CNG starts will always be harder than gasoline starts. DO NOT pump the gas when starting either fuel, you will cause a backfire and blow the airbox.sigpichttp://WWW.CNGMOTORS.COM
