  • What size tank to get?

    Hello,

I have a 2001 Chevy surburban and need to get a additional tank. Currently I have a 4 gge tank in the cargo area. I was wondering, Whats the biggest size tank that is possible to fit underneath a surburban? Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

In any config you must lose the spare tire. Most common is a 6 gallon twin pack. If it's not a 2500 Suburban you can cut the spare tire strut tower cross member and get a 10 gallon twin pack under there, make sure you reinforce it if you are cutting it. If the Suburban is lifted no need to cut the crossmember. Another option is lose the small tank which is probably a 3.5 and not a 4 gge. If it's front to back with the car its a 3.5, if it side to side it's a 4 gge. But lose the tank and a 8.5 gge will fit, they are 16"x50" snug fit but I have done many.

      Hello,

Thanks for the reply. I take it then that those long 10 to 13 gallon tanks won't fit underneath the Suburban?

      Thanks,
      Matt

Murphy, will the 8.5 gge setup fit in a 2000 Tahoe? I know I should have added to the 3.5 or 4 that is already in the spare tire slot (when you offered to get it done for me for $500 a couple years ago ). What are my options now and what will they set me back? Thanks!

If this is one of my vehicles you purchased from me then the cost for the 8.5 tank is $850 plus another $300 to install. This is for you only... Others reading this I do not offer extra tank installs unless you are purchasing a vehicle from me.

Most of the long "torpedo" tanks are 7 gge tanks and they will not fit along the frame rail of a Suburban or Tahoe. An Excursion yes.
