I visited with AFVTechat the Expo in Santa Monica. They had their new Crown Vic retrofit on display. SCAQMD was working with fleets to buy the cars new and have them converted to CNG dedicated vehicled for about $12,000+. You won't be seeing these cars turning out to the public for 3-5 years.

They (AFVTech) did have this really cool refueling hose there. It went from vehicle to vehicle as a means of passing some fuel back to the car that was out of fuel. Price tag; about $2000. Don't give up you AAA+ memberships just yet.

I see we have a new member registered by the name AFVTech. I will PM them to see if they might post more details as to the program here. It would be great if consumers could purchase these vehicles.

    Right you are John,

On AFVTech's website is says that it is for taxi, state fleets, and private fleets. I guess we'll just have to wait until those fleet service managers decide to get rid of them before the general public can have them. Also, it looks like these will be CNG dedicated vehicles as well, but with a 300 mile range...who cares.

It seems to be a retrofit and probably only available via AFVTech for fleets...

Anyone want to call them to find out the scoop?

This is headline news if for real!

Hope you can follow up with more detail as it is available, such as are we talking a GM factory order thru a dealer or is this a true after market set up that one pays later after buying the car?
Does one then take the car to AFVTech for the conversion?
Is this then another Bi-Fuel car, as previously available or is it straight CNG?

Have ordered an '08 Civic GX to deliver in another week - is it too late to cancel for one of the GM's?

Looks like Chevy is getting back into the CNG vehicle market. It also looks like AFVTech in Arizona will be doing the conversions. I thought that Chevy did the Cavaliers "in-house". If that was the case I wonder why they are out-sourcing these new CNG vehicles. Of course, these new CNG vehicles will be dedicated and available only as fleet vehicles.
