  • where to get parts (LPL) for 2000 cavalier?

My 2000 cavalier does not run on cng as it is supposed to. It intermitently fails over to gasoline when there is plenty of cng fuel. I took it to the dealer and they determined that "the Low Side cut out is bad". They said the part was $1000. I wanted to see if I could buy it somewhere else, but the parts store couldn't place the part numbers they gave me "52369516" for the "valve" and 52369517 for the seal (o-ring, I think). I have a 2002 maintenance manual and I could not match their part number or description either. I think this is the low pressure lock out solenoid, but I'm not sure. Does anyone have experience with this? Can anyone recommend a good place to order factory or equivalent parts?

    The LPL P/N: 52368527
    Dealer price $104
    http://gmpartsdirect.com $75
From the manufacture price is coming. I have purchased one directly from the manufacture for ~$39 + shipping however I am not going to disclose the source until I have verified that it works. I expect I will be cuting the wires off the current LPL and solding the connector on to the new. The manufacture of the LPL said it could be 2 weeks before I get my part that was a week ago.

Thank you for your help. The description they gave me sounds like the LPL, but the part number is different, (Fuel Tank Meter Sender/Connector) I was able to cross it on the site you provided me. Have you ever changed one of these?

      Thanks alot.

I have the manual I'll give you the LPL resistance to check it when I get off work tonight. Once you check the resistance that will tell you if the LPL is your problem. I think the dealer didn't get the part number right for the LPL. I haven't changed mine yet however it will be easy. Depressurize the lower pressure side and remove and replace.

That will be great. I have a digital multimeter. I'll wait before I order anything.

          Thanks.

Sorry it took so long to reply I have been swamped every night. The manual tells you to disconnect the LPL and put a 12 Light in the pins of the cable to the LPL then crank and watch the light come "ON". Then check the resistance of the LPL is between 6.2ohms - 10ohms. If out of that tolerance then replace the LPL.

I actually never had to replace this component. The problem went away while I was waiting for the part, so I am just holding the part and hoping the issue never returns.

I am looking for a anternate fuel engine control module (AFECM) for a 2002 cavalier. This unit is behind the front bumper. PN IMPCO 52371446, you know I'd like a used one. Thanks Hooper
