Has anyone switched their cng cavalier engine to another cavalier or sunfire? It would be nice to have a 2 door cavalier with more options.

Re: switching engines
I am in the process of switching my system over to a 2003 Chevy S10 2.2L
pickup. Same engine and ECU should make the electronic part of the conversion somewhat easy, although I am expecting a headache on rerouting of new stainless steel lines, etc. If you switch to another cavalier it should be even easier since everything should be exactly to dimension.

Re: switching engines
I have the engine bay components on and installed (injectors & lines, LPR, low pressure lockoff, etc.) but the dimensions of the steel line that runs from the trunk of the cavalier are way off from what I need for the S-10. I am trying to find stainless steel fittings rated for the somewhat high pressure (~150-200 psi) that runs down the length of the vehicle. My other concern is that I've heard talk that the CNG cavalier engine had hardened valves and possibly higher-compression pistons to better support the natural gas combustion...if this is true the engine will definitely not run the same.
I don't think swapping the components from your wrecked 2003 will work very easily on the Sunfire. To my knowledge, cavalier switched engines in 2003 to their "ecotech" engine. This is going to be a much different engine than what is currently in your 1997 sunfire. However, the good news is this might leave you with the option of swapping it into one of GM's more current vehicles with that same engine. (Saturns, Cobalts & HHR from a quick search)
