I need help! The other day my 1999 crown vic started spewing antifreeze out of the radiator cap. Come to find out it's not a radiator issue but a broken heat exchange regulator (I think that's what they told me), which means that natural gas is leaking into the heating/cooling system forcing the antifreeze out. Champion Ford in SLC, diagnosed it and quoted me a price of $3,600 just for the part!!! No exaggeration. They were just as blown away by the price as I was and are trying to help me locate a used one. Has anybody experienced this before and been able to find the part for a reasonable price? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Re: Crown Vic Heat Exchange Regulator
If you are talking about the high pressure regulator, sometimes the coolant chamber car crack, if this is the case you can rebuild it. If not we have new high pressure regulators for $1200 Installed, and have a used on also. If you have any questions please give me a call.Lancer Automotive Group

Re: Crown Vic Heat Exchange Regulator
Thanks to each of you for your input. The dealer found a few used regulators in SLC but unfortunately none of them would work in my car. The mechanic opted to rebuild mine and it cost me a total of $385. What a relief after the ridiculous price I thought I might have to pay. It's good to know that the regulator is rebuildable and that there are used and aftermarket ones available. I've put about 200 miles on the car since the rebuild and everything seems to be working great. I'm holding my breath, hoping this doesn't happen again anytime soon.
