Fuel Level Indications

We recently purchased a Crown Vic and the fuel gage takes about 5 minuets to indicate the fuel level, slowly from empty to full. Is this typical?

The fuel level indicator reads from the ecm and takes temp. and pressure sensor inputs , both are rapidly changing back to normal after a fast fill at a station. The ecm takes this data every few seconds , and if it looks out of range ,(like after a fast fill) it slowly updates the output to the indicator. In short , my Honda takes about 2 minutes, and I don't remember on my 00 crown vic. You may have a slow acting pressure sensor.

Always remember , it cannot give as accurate indication as with liquid fuel. So get an auto club membership extended towing !

My 98 CrVic updates the fuel level quickly after a fast-fill. But after sitting overnight or worse a couple days, it takes several minutes to show fuel level on the guage. I was thinking I have a slow leak somewhere after the solenoids that is allowing the pressure to bleed off when the car is off, and as the pressure is restored to the lines, the guage slowly catches-up.
