  • OBD code 1131 - Fuel pump status offline?

Has any Ford CNG owner ever encountered an OBD code 1131 - Fuel pump status offline? I just had my Crown Vic serviced to replace the coalescent filter and the injector cleaning service, and this code keeps tripping the Check Engine light. Resetting does not remove the error - it comes right back.

Naturally, there's no fuel pump in the CNG Crown Victoria. Is this a proxy for another error condition? Ideas?

possibly low fuel rail pressure? could be a problem with the regulator?

2003 might be different, but my manual for my 97 Crown Vic says P1131 is actually the upstream O2 sensor (bank 1) not switching. Basically, it's saying it is correcting rich for an overly lean condition. Could be low fuel rail pressure, plugged/bad injector, intake leak, basically anything that could cause a lean condition. That, or it could be the O2 sensor itself.

Figured it out. The code also refers to "invalid or missing data for fuel system". I figured it was a glitch in Ford's PCM for NGVs.

Solution: removed negative battery terminal for (5) minutes, which hard resets the PCM. Reconnecting, check engine light disapprears, and no pending error code.
