Re: No spark on either fuel

Sorry about slow response. It's a4.9L. I got it to run on hajigas (yuk) after replacing TFI module, crank sensor and pick-up coil in the distributor. A CNG tech here clued me in on how to get it going again. Apparrently the compuvalve died. Now I'm trying to find one at a reasonable price. Thanx for everyones help. Steve

You didn't mention which engine you had. Since the engine has a distributor Cap, did you check the "Hall Effect Switch in the distributor, the one that has wires going the ignition module (TFI module) on the fender? You'll have to pull the distributor and disassemble it to replace the hall switch -- that or replace the distributor?

You might want to see if there are any codes since it is an OBD II vehicle and are relatively easy to get?

There should be only one ignition (TFI) module on that vehicle, gray ( I believe) in color, and 6 or 7 pins.

why go to a specialty shop like a cng shop if it is happening on both fuels. take it to the cheapest one. probably the normal mechanic. it doesn't effect the cng system at all it is just the ignition it wouldn't be illegal in anyway.

All fuses good. The fuses on the module one 10AMP, 1"E" fuse are good. Truck is headed for CNG shop in a couple of days.

I have no idea, but have you checked all of your fuses related to the ignition system?

    No spark on either fuel

I have a 96 f-150 that has no spark from the coil on either fuel. Unleaded pump comes on for 2 seconds like normal. Engine cranks just no spark. Changed plugs, cap, rotor, coil, ignition module on fender, and ignition switch. First problem in 7 yrs of ownership. ECM has a small LED that briefly blinks and goes out when ignition is first turned to on. Any ideas? I noticed another module (ign?) mounted to the power distribution box. Could this be the culprit? Any input is appreciated. Stevo
