  • How to replace Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor--F250 Dedicated?

Can anyone offer advice on whether I should try to replace the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor on my 1999 F-250 Dedicated? South Bay Ford wants another $400 (on top of the $200 "diagnosis fee") to do this.

It looks like a simple pull and replace to me, but I don't know how to purge the gas lines most safely (can I just close the valves on the tank and run the truck until it stalls out)?

Also, where do I get this part?

    thanks,
    Elan

You can bleed off the pressure at the pressure test port on the fuel rail (looks like a tire valve). The sensor un-screws with an o-ring at the bottom.

The only place I know to get the part is from Ford ($275+).

or, easier and safer, unplug elect. conn on the tank and run the fuel out if it will start in CNG mode. I just had to buy 2 FPS for my vehicles.
