Where can I find information on the right compuvalve for my vehicle? I have seen new GFI compuvalves on ebay, but I have no idea if it would be compatible. I have a 1999 Ford F250, but I have seen others asking the same question. I have the 5.4L V8. Can anyone with that motor check their engine and get me a part number? How else can I be sure a compuvalve will work in my truck? Who manufactures the compuvalve that Ford will order if I take it there to be replaced?

Ford Dealerships are the only ones to get compuvalves from. The compuvalves are no longer manufactured. You need to send in or trade your old compuvalve for a re-manufactured one. Get this it is about $1500 and up for a remanufactured one and $300 core charge.

The Ford bi-fuel manual I have for my 2000 ford states that the f150 5.4 has 5 solenoids (black cylinders in the picture). However the F series has 6. So the best thing you can do is look on your truck and get model number off the valve. On my contour is located under the car under the rock pannel.

The manufacturer is GFI. They are out of Canada. They will not even give you the time of day (I tryed). So Ford is the only ones.

I called Champion Ford and they told me the compuvalve remanufactured runs $2675 + $250 tax +$350 core charge. Now I know the core charge comes back when I let them keep my old one, but that seems high. Are prices just skyrocketing lately due to demand? Even direct from Ford? Even Jared at Sno-Motion told me that it should run $1500-$1700. Any suggestions on where else I can call to see about better pricing?

I can't decide if it's Champion, Ford or just the market. They told me that they did a part search and that only 4 compuvalves for my truck exist in the entire US. That's just rediculous. It's crazy that a part costs over $2500 remanufactured!! That's more than an new transmission! Crazy . . .

I'm thinking it's Ford to blame for limiting our ability to find these parts . . .

            Hey there,

I don't know if this will help but according to Ford TBS 02-10-3, here is the F-150 Compuvalve info.

            PART NUMBER PART NAME
            1L3Z-9F954-BA Compuvalve - 2001 Bi-Fuel CNG F-150
            2L3Z-9F954-BB Compuvalve - 2002 Bi-Fuel CNG F-150

            At least, it's a start.

            Regards,

            Ralph

              Okay.

Part is available at Ford Parts Direct for 2,208.72, which includes a $350.00 Core charge. It doesn't say if the part is available, only that they have the part number in their system.

              Regards,

              Ralph

Any chance of getting the part number for the 1999 F250? How did you find that?

                  Re: Ford Compuvalve Model Innformation

Alright, so now I really need some help. I have an appointment with Ford this Thrusday to get a new compuvalve put in to my 1999 F250. I was able to track down the part number for the valve and it's showing available through fordpartsdirect.com for $1900. Champion Ford wants $2600 for the same part. I know it's good to have the dealer get the part and put it in for you, but is it worth $700? I'm not so sure it is . . .

Also, does anyone know if I can order the part from this website and have Ford still install it? Will they only install their own parts? I was told Ford will give me a 1-year warranty if they get the part and install it. They told me it would only be about $180 for the install. I'm just not sure what to do . . . If someone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it!

                    Air,

I do not recall how much info can be said at this site but, I would guess if you were a true member of the Ford Truck Enthusiasts, I would bet that TSB 00-23-9 would give you an idea of what that compuvalve replacement is like. I would also checkout TSB 01-10-6, just to make sure that is your problem.

                    Good Luck,

                    Ralph
