  • What Kind of Valve do I need for a Ford Factory Conversion?

I need to put a tank in my F250, but how do I know what valve I need? The Ford dealer told me I need some valve with a solenoid attached so that there is an electronic shut off component. Is this the type of valve everyone has? If so, it's not the valves I am seeing on the tanks on ebay/craigslist. Most everything I am seeing has the manual shut off valve. Am I going to have to special order?

Its available though any Ford Dealer that still may have one in stock.
Its available through any wrecking yard that may have a factory converted
    Ford in their collection.
It is exclusive only to Ford and they no longer produce them nor have they given up their rights to them, so the manufacturer cannot offer them to the public. And last I heard, when Ford decided to close down their CNG program it put the manufacturer of their CNG parts into bankruptcy.
Another example of how responsive Ford is to the public in the USA.

        Airliner,
What your looking for is a GFI electronic valve usually with a 2"-12 thread.
I believe Superior Valve made one just like it for Chevy, just different wiring connectors. If your doing a new/non OEM replacement tank setup, you will still legally have to put in a 1/4 turn shutoff valve between the tanks and the regulator. Only OEM installs could get away with using only electronic valves as a system shutoff.

Why do you need a ford valve anyway?? Just put a tank in with a standard manual valve. Both meet tank standards, so you will be fine with either. You don't have to have the same valve on all the tanks installed. Unless you have a specific reason for doing so.
