  • Ford F-350 Crew Cab 5.4L 4x4

I have an opportunity to pick up a F350 Crew Cab 5.4L 4x4 with around 117k miles for about 7K. I'm looking at buying the truck and converting to CNG. Does anyone have any familiarity with this motor and its compatability with CNG? Any information would be helpful!

I have reviewed some of the other threads, but wasn't sure about the '01 F350 5.4L.

I have converted a 2001 F350 4x4 with the 5.4L engine. It works very well. What year is the truck? The 2005 and 2006 F150's 4x4's sometimes have problems with the transmission bucking on cng. The F150's also have the 5.4L engine. I converted a 2004 F250 4x4 with the 5.4L and also a 2004 F150 4x4 with the 5.4L and there was no bucking problem with either of these. Does anyone know how to get around this bucking issue? Upon acceleration and deceleration Ford momentarily shuts off the power to the fuel injectors and it occasionally causes a buck at certain speeds only on cng.

As a moderator of this forum first. I must add that the kit exists but there is not a current EPA cert for it. Just know that going into this

It is a 2001. Have you had any issues with the '01 F350?
