2000 Contour - whistle while on CNG

I just picked up a 2000 contour. It's way nicer than I thought it would be, power everything, room in the trunk and drives really good (better than the civics of the same year) Anyway, when it's running on CNG it makes a very high pitch whistle sound when you give it gas. There is no sound when it's idling or very light throttle, but when you accelerate it's loud and ANNOYING!! I thought it was a stereo issue (sounds like alternator through the speakers, only the pitch doesn't change).

Anyone have anything to check, any ideas? It almost seems like it's just the CNG going through a small constriction, maybe something needs cleaning? It's high pitch enough that one of my buddies can't even hear it, but if you can, it's not cool.

Mine did that on occasion, but eventually the sound disappeared.
You might try wrapping on the fuel rails - maybe something is hung up in there?
If it runs OK, maybe just live with it...
Or take it to one of the CNG shops for an opinion or diagnosis.

My 2000 Contour did the same thing for a day or two, two years ago, then the sound went away and it hasn't happened again.

So I may just need to drive it alot!! i haven't even put a tank of CNG through it. I'm actually just selling it, and no one wants it with the annoying whistle. I just got it to sell to friends as all my friends are now interested in CNG. That's all I drive now. I have a converted escalade and a 2004 f150 4x4. So I'm all set for now...

This one is for sell. I had the CNG system checked out by Tai at Intergalatic Hydrogen and he was suprised that everything in the CNG system was so clean. Good news for me as I don't want to sell someone a project. As far as the whistle goes, he couldn't find anything and it just went away on my drive back from SLC, so I guess it just happens to contours as others mentioned on this thread.

Which one of the dwarfs is your Contour. You know they love to whistle while they work
