  • can i discard the compuvalve?

    ok ok, i did the searching, couldnt find anything. im a bit of a mcguiver, and like to tinker....thinking of buying a decent truck, that supposedly has a bad compuvalve. if im not interested in ever driving on gas-o-lean ever again, can i just junk it? and go straight cng?

      The compuvalve is the heart of the Ford natural gas conversion- it is not needed for gasoline operation. You have the relationship backwards.

        To answer your question, Can a truck be run on CNG only if it has a bad compuvalve? No the compuvalve is what regulates the amount of cng fuel going to the engine. If the compuvalve does not work your CNG system will not work. Usually when compuvalves go out you get a hesitation when accelerating. The question that I would be asking is how bad is the compuvalve. Is it misbehaving because it is dirty? Can flushing the compuvalve solve the problem?

          Do you guys at Ashton clean/repair them or at least analyze them.
