Betsy Lillian January 28, 2019 - Pennsylvania Lebanon Transit Welcomes New CNG Refueling

This week, @GovernorTomWolf Admin announced the formal opening of service at one of the 29 CNG fueling stations, part of the state’s $84.5 million P3 project. Officials from @PennDOTNews @TrilliumCNG & #LebanonTransit marked the start of fueling at the facility at 200 Willow St Lebanon PA.

Lebanon Transit will convert eight buses to CNG. The authority estimates saving roughly $50,000 annually based on current diesel costs and its diesel usage of roughly 35,000 gallons per year. PennDOT s overall P3 project includes CNG fueling accessible to the public at six transit agency sites, with the option to add to sites in the future. The Lebanon station does not offer public fueling. PennDOT will receive a 15 percent royalty, excluding taxes, for each gallon of fuel sold to the public at public sites, used to support the cost of the project.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania continues to roll out its CNG P3 Project which aims to construct fueling stations for the supply of Compressed Natural Gas to more than 1,600 public-transit buses at 29 sites. According to the PA Department of Transportation (PennDOT), eight stations were completed in 2017 and four have been opened in 2018. Station builder Trillium, PennDOT and New Castle Transit Authority (NCTA) celebrated the opening of one of those stations last week.
