Re: Need CNG Training!!! Let the USPS train you!!

Hello Mr John Cook and Robert Teply . . . . curious what information you might have on idea coming out of Oklahoma City, OK that USPS could rapidly help itself (ie cut losses and drastically reduce fuel cost) by allowing private industry to install public cng pumps at Post Offices that both the post office and public could use?? See links to YouTube video and OKC newspaper media information on prior posts.

Let us all know . . . this Post Office infrastructure of public cng pumps would be Awesome for cng movement!! I've already identified multiple sites in several towns that I've travelled to . . . just the tip of the iceberg!

Re: Need CNG Training!!! Let the USPS train you!!

The Post office still runs CNG fuel in certain areas of the country such as El Paso, TX and Corpus Christie, TX. Their operations are very fuel efficient and they are reducing overhead operating costs with the rising cost of gasoline. The infrastructure idea of having post offices retrofitted with filling stations is a great one. However in order to run carrier vehicles and such with CNG would be another conversion price to an already aging 25 plus year old fleet of vehicles. I love the idea if we could get new purchased vehicles in the future with CNG capability which reduces our carbon footprint and reduces greenhouse gases from fossil fuels.

I dont know what you are talking about. 25 year old trucks? as the post office makes the contractors keep newer trucks but it is cheaper to convert a truck than to buy a new one if only the goverment would get the hell out of the way and let free enterprise go than it would only be done if it money and that my friends is how free enterprise works and we could all get fat and lazy burning cheap fuel

Re: Need CNG Training!!! Let the USPS train you!!

Thanks to Robert Teply of USPS indicating that idea of adding public cng infrastructure at Post Offices across the country might have a chance.

Curious why/when could El Paso, TX facility of USPS be OPENED UP TO PUBLIC as El Paso, TX has no public cng pump what-so-ever?? Any other USPS locations across the country using "private cng pump" that could be opened up quickly to the public??

As for Corpus Cristi, TX it DOES have public cng by the city at great price of $1.09/ gge!! Since Corpus Cristi is MASSIVE port for inbound crude oil and processing into petrol fuels, there are EQUALLY MASSIVE amounts of by-product natural gas that could be easily used for transportation fuel (ie CNG). Also, Corpus Cristi has population of nearly 300,000 so they could easily support more than just one public cng pump.

The whole US Govt. should switch to CNG, LNG, or bifuel gasoline option vehicles. That includes domestic military facilities, and many naval ships. Same goes for many states and local governments. It is a natural fit in many areas, and eventually all. Not that I expect it to happen any time soon. Most oil companies wouldn't like it, too much lost money on diesel and gasoline profits. This would take real leadership, which is in short supply.
