I am extending an invitation to those CNGChat members who responded to the Cruise-In request to the Odyssey Day on the Pier event in Santa Monica, where we launched the road trip, to attend my Spring stakeholder event and award ceremony for the sponsorsand support crew, who made the event possible.

The event will be held at The Proud Bird Restaurant, 11022 Aviation Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045. 310.670.3093, on Wednesday, April 24th, 2013 from 11am to 3pm. I appreciate those of you who came to support me and the Corbitt's on this historic road trip.

Lunch will be served during the event, so bring your appetite. You must RSVP by going HERE: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5YWR73K.

John Mitton and I will both be there, so I hope you can find the time to come and visit us at the event. Dress will be business casual.

I will be announcing the next leg of the Green Across America CNG Road Trip at the event.

        Hi Gang!

Thanks all for the kind words and sympathy. I'm doing OK given the circumstances. Taking care of all the stuff Gary did (getting taxes done and bills paid) is keeping me busy. But it's still hard to believe he's really gone. Dang, no more sleeping on road trips. And it took me so long to get him off his Cadillac CTS kick.

I regret I won't be able to attend the Spring stakeholder event on April 24th (I already had plans to be in Cabo San Lucas).
But I am planning to attend the Cruise-In in June, and will hopefully see many of you there.

Again, thanks for the support, and if anyone's interested, they can check out Gary's memorial video on his facebook page, along with a clip from his early acting days.

        Lots of Hugs,
        Ev

Awards and recognition were the theme of the day at AV Clean Cities Spring Stakeholder Meeting at The Proud Bird Restaurant, beside LAX on April 24th. Everyone worked really hard to make this trip a sussess. Our only regret is that Gary could not be there and Ev was out of the area. I'll hold yours Ev. You can pick it up at the Cruise-In in June, unless we can connect sooner. CNGCHat was represented by Curtis Martin, John Mitton, Bill Stallman (300mileclub,) John Fischbeck (Jetboat Johnny,) and Ron Orr (Jenki-Putnik.)

          • Dr. Mark Looper, (Caltech physics 1993) was given mention in a prior cngchat post (this thread) for his 1998 CLEAN ACROSS AMERICA AND BACK roadtrip. The documentation of his record cross-country trip has been in plain site on the web for two decades.

His 1993 Dodge B250 dedicated CNG passenger van was accepted to be put on exhibit at the Peterson Automotive Museum 6060 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA when he moved to Hawaii in 2007 where there are no CNG stations. Here are the links he created having a wealth of information about AFVs including his roadtrip, biography, AFV drivetrains and fuels:

            • Mark Looper provided a summary of cross-nation alt-fuel vehicle trips back done in the 1990s which is found in the previously mentioned link, shown again, at the bottom:

I finally did drive from Los Angeles to Phoenix and back at Thanksgiving and Christmas in 1997; 1998, however, has turned out to be the big year for this kind of trip. While I was sending out feelers in May, 1998 to arrange fueling station access and publicity for Clean Across America And Back, I found out that two long-distance alternative-fueled journeys were already about to start! Kris Trexler, a lessee of a General Motors EV1 electric vehicle, drove one-way from Los Angeles, California to Troy, Michigan in his three-week Charge Across America (in a couple of instances he got a local electric utility to drop a line from a power pole in the middle of nowhere to charge his battery.) And Bill Fairbairn, communications director of the California Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition and a strong supporter of the American Lung Association, drove a CNG-powered Honda Civic GX (borrowed from American Honda) one-way from Sacramento, California to the Clean Cities Stakeholders' Conference in Washington, DC, calling his one-week journey Cleanest Across America because the Civic GX is the cleanest internal-combustion-engine vehicle ever tested by the EPA. Then in June Ed Begley, Jr. (yes, that Ed Begley, Jr., the actor; he's prominent among the early EV1 lessees, among other environmental credentials) drove a bi-fuel CNG Ford Contour from Los Angeles to the east coast and back, using mostly CNG plus about 7.5 gallons of gasoline (this was not a publicity-generating trip like the others and mine--it was only announced to the press after the fact). Finally, just before my journey, Ron Keeling and Patrick McConnell of the General Services Administration and Larry Thompson of the Federal Aviation Administration drove a CNG-powered Ford Crown Victoria from Washington, DC to the FedFleet '98 meeting in Scottsdale, AZ in July, calling their trip GSA Drives Green Across the USA.
