Four years after the Coast-to-Coast CNG road trip when only a handful of stations were in operation, the state now sports 20 stations which take the kind of bank cards drivers normally have. Most have great access with high-flow systems able to fuel multiple Class 8 trucks simultaneously.

Like Oklahoma, Colorado now has sufficient CNG fueling locations along all of its Interstate Highways (CNG 4 America is building a station in Limon to complete I-70). Kersey puts the LCNG station in North Platte Nebraska within reach for a northern cross-nation route. Guymon Oklahoma to Trinidad provides a shorter East-West route than the 290 mile Amarillo to Albuquerque stretch further to the south on Interstate 40.

Photos, shown, of the Ft Lupton station show a simple configuration of equipment used to provide large fueling capacity. Alternatively, the station next to the Pepsi distribution center in Greeley (not shown) has 7 dispensers and 12 hoses. Both stations were built by WARD.

One can see the sequence of why CNG was adopted in Colorado by viewing this photo gallery beginning at the end (scroll to the bottom) and work backwards. There was a source of gas from the many wells distributed throughout Colorado. From there, the photos show a trade show exhibit of an aftermarket conversion company; grants to school districts; opening ceremonies. A nice, comprehensive presentation of why Refuel Colorado has enjoyed the successful rollout of alternative fueling stations in the last number of years:
