Great! That should help get more CNG vehicles on the road.

The bill has cleared the House and is on to the Senate!
In the mean time, the bill's sunset date extension has been shortened to January 1, 2020 for natural gas vehicles, and 2018 for green-sticker plug in hybrids.

I'm thinking of sending out an e-mail blast to CNGchatters in California to contact their Senate representative in Sacramento to voice support, what do you think?

Curtis and I sent out an e-mail to all of our California CNGchatters and have had a great response, with many letting us know they have contacted their Senate representative in Sacramento. Looking forward to seeing many of you at the annual Cruze-In this weekend at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds!

Here is the text of our e-mail:

This bill has passed in the House and will extend single-occupant HOV diamond lane incentives for white stickers currently set to expire on Jan 1, 2015 out to January 1, 2020. The green sticker plug-in hybrids would expire Jan 1, 2018.

Thanks for the email blast! I check my mail more often than the forums so the email helped bring this to my attention right away. I checked and I'm in district 15 (Jim Beall). Clicked on the link to his site and there was a link to contact him. I filled out the form to voice my support of AB-266. Let's get this to pass to extend our HOV privileges!

Amended yet again - If I'm reading correctly, I believe an extension date of Jan 1st, 2019 has now been proposed to cover both Green and White stickers??? Anyone with a law degree that can decipher further http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...avClient.xhtml

Checked the site tracking the bill and it shows it passed the senate in CA. Anyone have any other information?

Re: AB 266 Passes Senate in CA to extend CNG use in Carpool Lane

                        Great news HondaGX.
I see the current text includes: Existing federal law authorizes, until September 30, 2017, a state to allow specified labeled vehicles to use lanes designated for high-occupancy vehicles (HOVs). So the new sunset date will be September 30, 2017 should the Governor sign AB 266.

I am going to merge your post into our existing discussion thread in the California Incentives forum so as to not duplicate discussions:

Re: California white carpool stickers (CAV decals) may get extended to 2025

Gov. Brown signed Bill AB-266 and others supporting transporation in CA into law over the last weekend. He supports the use of the car pool lanes but in fact the actual support for the sticker programs ends Jan 1, 2015 when the state will stop issuing ALL stickers (green or white).

See the excerpt from the Bill AB-266 below:

Directs the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to issue stickers for the following clean air vehicles, until January 1, 2015, as follows:

                            a) White clean air vehicle stickers are available to an unlimited number of qualifying vehicles that meet California’s super ultra–low emission vehicle standard for exhaust emissions and the federal inherently low–emission vehicle (ILEV) evaporative emission standard. This includes certain zero-emission vehicles. Cars that meet these requirements are typically certified pure zero-emission vehicles (100% battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell) and compressed natural gas vehicles; and,

                            b) Green clean air vehicle stickers are available to the first 40,000 applicants that purchase or lease cars meeting California's enhanced advanced partial zero-emission vehicles (AT PZEV) requirement.

Great that the HOV access is extended...but bad that Californians will be driving old technology in those lanes when it expires in 2019. Sales for the likes of Tesla, Honda, Ford and anyone else who markets their vehicles for HOV access will most likely take a sales hit after the Jan 1, 2015 date.

Think the extension is until 2019......
