  • New CNG stations- Boise Idaho said to open Nov. 2010, Nampa soon to follow!

About a year ago, many of us were excited by this press release:
    http://www.republicservices.com/pr-36.html

I Just got off the phone with the Allied Waste Operations Manager. He indicated that the station development is moving along as planned, and they expect to have a fully functional public station open by the end of November 2010. He indicated that it would accept Visa/Mastercard.

He also told me that they are planning a second public station in Nampa that they expect will open in January of 2011.

The Boise station now appears on the Clean Energies Website With an address listed as:
    11101 West Executive Drive
    Boise, Idaho 83713

These guys deserve a serious pat on the back for getting the CNG ball rolling (finally!) in Idaho.

Hey Kirk, that is great news.
To avoid duplicate discussions I will close the old thread so we can move forward on this one with details as to the station, opening dates, experiences, etc.

Has anyone driven by this address and checked it out to see if we can fill up?

I stopped by both the Boise and Nampa station locations over the holiday weekend and took these photos. According to Clean Energy the stations will be operational by the end of this month. Looks like a standard IMW compressor set up, so I'm guessing about 400 cfm or 200 gge/hour capacity with three-stage cascading fast-fill storage. As you see, the Nampa station is a little further along with one of the dispensers now in place. These stations are located at Republic Services refuse truck facilities:

        11101 West Executive Drive
        Boise, Idaho 83713

        3015 East Comstock Avenue
        Nampa, Idaho 83687

It will be great to have CNG in Treasure Valley!

My wife called the Boise location, and they said the pumps were operational, but the card reader wasn't, so it wasn't quite ready.

She was told that if we stopped in there 8-5 monday through friday, then just come in the office and they will take your money inside.

We are heading up there this weekend... I'm still curious on the price since it's clean energy.

Great, let us know how you fare in Boise this weekend. Again, it seemed the Nampa station was closer to being finished when I was up there around July 4th

We stopped at Boise and sure enough there is no power to the new pumps, so we talked to people in the office and they let us fill at one of the truck filling stations. The presure seemed to be about 3500 psi. And they charged us 2 dollars a gallon for what I estimated was 5 gallons of cng.

They said the grand opening is Aug. 4 for Boise and a week later for Nampa.

Idaho's first compressed natural gas fueling station is now open for business in Boise.

"Supporters and business leaders this week celebrated the opening of the state's first compressed natural gas fueling station in Boise, and they're poised to mark the opening of a second station next week in Nampa."

Looks like they take Mastercard and Visa.

Loves representatives at the 2016 ACT show in Long Beach are said to have indicated that there are plans to offer CNG from the new Travel Stop which opened June 2016 in Boardman Oregon. There are no grades along the 170 miles from Boardman to the Trillium station in Vancouver. The 250 miles from Boardman to Nampa have 7900 ft elevation gain when intermediate hills/valleys are summed up ( veloroutes.org ). Which is still possible using high mileage techniques (inflate tires, keep speed below 60mph or 2500 rpm on hills, avoid headwind, A/C off.)

There are also plans for a public CNG dispenser when the time-fill system at Basin Disposal in Pasco WA is upgraded in capacity in the next year or so.

CNG public fueling planned for the upgrade to Basin Disposal in Pasco WA; by modifying the LNG station in Stanfield OR to LCNG; or with the planned CNG to be offered at the LOVES Travel Stop will be available in 2017.

Completing the Interstate 84 CNG corridor would depend on public access to the CNG station Intermountain Gas plans to install at 451 Alan Dr, Jerome ID (Twin Falls). Except for the gate and Idaho PUC, seems it would serve a crucial need if public access could be allowed until something else develops in Twin Falls. FedEx, next door, has CNG trucks in other parts of the country.

Someone in Idaho will know what the prospects are for fueling in the Twin Falls Area. The refuse company is an independent and has not shown an interest in buying CNG trucks (would be a different case if city was served by Republic or WM). Byron Defenbach is the Intermountain Gas VP in charge of CNG. Write to him at 555 S Cole Rd Boise ID 83709. Beth Baird bbaird@cityofboise.org of Treasure Valley Clean Cities would know what the PUC public sale restrictions are. Ask that she float the idea of public access in Jerome with Byron. Let her know a phone number for Byron is in the following document:

Intermountain Gas Co private CNG station is confirmed operational by afdc.energy.gov June 2017 at 451 Alan Dr Jerome, ID. No publicity found anywhere.

Meanwhile, Republic Services has 120 time-fuel positions at its private CNG station at 12976 St Charles Rock Rd, Bridgeton, MO. The recently upgraded facility (CLEAN ENERGY) was featured at an April 21 2017 EarthDay Celebration. Methane is collected at the adjacent landfill and fed to a complex having five storage tanks, heat exchangers as shown in aerial photo.

This CNG station is among 50 or more operated by Republic Services (Corvallis OR, Wilsonville OR, and others) that do not even show up when searching afdc.energy.gov for private and planned stations. They supposedly are listed in an invisible data file that may be requested by customers such as Republic.

Two weeks after the Twin Falls Republic Services EarthDay Celebration, a tour was offered to invited guests of the CNG station and 50 new trucks that have been added to the fleet:
