Hey gang, CNGchat needs your help!

For over a decade we have enjoyed providing this little corner of the Internet for folks to discuss all things natural gas vehicles. It is the largest forum of its kind: with some 70,000 posts on over 11,000 topics. But with continued low gasoline & diesel prices and strong automaker support for electric vehicles, consumer interest in CNG has dropped considerably, and with it has visitor traffic here. As a result, Google ad revenues no longer cover hosting fees.

If you find CNGchat to be a useful resource then please consider making a modest donation to support keeping this remarkable pool of knowledge available to the alternative fuels community. Thanks!

  • Need to defuel CNG tank

I purchased a dual fuel 2001 Ford F150 and the CNG system was out of date and not needed. It is believed that the tank was defueled prior to sale of the truck but that can't be confirmed. The tank has been removed from the vehicle and the wiring from the solenoid valve is damaged. I have the GFI Valve Venting Procedure which references an override tool which I don't have. How do I go about ensuring the tank is empty so it can be disposed of? I tried to upload a picture of the valve but kept getting an upload error.

Please check your Private Messages (click on My CNGchat) link.
I sent you a phone number of someone in SC who might be able to help.

Defueling a CNG cylinder can be risky. Be safe!
